How to use?

It’s very simple to use essential oils. It doesn't need to be complicated and is a safe and natural way to support your family’s health. Every oil has at least one of three application methods: Aromatic, Topical, or Internal.

Aromatic Use ~ Breathe in or use a diffuser to open up airways, improve mood, or freshen and purify the air.
Topical Use ~ Use a carrier oil when applying to skin – temples, inner wrists and forearms, back of neck, bottoms of feet or affected areas to target specific needs.

Internal Use ~ A drop or two in your water bottle, under tongue, or in veggie capsule to support mouth, throat, digestive system, or overall health.

Basic safety tips

Caution is required due to the potency of these essential oils and whilst reactions to essential oils is minimal, the most common is skin reactions. Here are some guidelines that I use to ensure the safe use of essential oils with me and my children:
Dilution
Always dilute essential oils when applying topically to avoid skin sensitivity. For children suggested ratio is 1 drop of essential oil per one dessert spoon of carrier oil (coconut, almond, jojoba oil If you experience any burning sensation, use a carrier oil or whole fat milk to wipe off. DO NOT reach for water, because applying water to the area could actually make it worse.
Avoid These Areas
Never put essential oils in your eyes, inside ear canal, or up nose. However, you may apply oils around the eye bone in a C shape, on ear cartilage and behind ear bone.
Photosensitivity
Citrus oils are sensitive to the sun so avoid direct sunlight to exposed skin for at least 12 hours after application or you may experience skin irritation or burning. Oils applied underneath clothing should be fine.
Safe Storage
The majority of all adverse reactions to essential oils by children have been as a direct result of accidental overdose and ingestion in large amounts. Keep out of reach of children. Handle your essential oils like you would handle medicine.
Ingesting Oils
not all oils are safe for ingestion – please do your own research. Young children should not ingest oils.
